Well, here’s a very good reason to switch to the firefox web browser instead of using Internet Explorer. A new not-yet-patched exploit has been exposed that allows allows someone to run whatever they like on your computer. I’ve set it up myself to proove how easy it is:
IE Exploit (loads calc.exe (after you click your OS) calculator (harmless!)).
Say I wanted to steal money from you…I could quite easily make that page download a program to monitor what you type, like all your passwords etc..and then email me the info via a hotmail account, and just silently gather all your personal details over many years, then bam, I login to your bank account, transfer all your money over to an offshore account and live happily ever after…but much richer.
Time to stop using IE, it sucks anyway.

I recently got a w800i mobile phone and I’ve been playing with it for about 24 hours now. It’s not bad at all! If you’re looking for an mp3 player phone thing, it’s rather perfect.
Works with Linux too (mass storage device stylee!)
What’s really cool is you can bluetooth your tunes to other people.

People ought to stop using MSN. Did you know that Microsoft legally own everything you write on there? Start using the Jabber IM protocol. There are various clients out there for windows, one of them is called exodus which looks alright. Myself, I use gaim, which is primarily a linux client although I think there may be a windows version around.
It’s a good idea to start using something else, otherwise you’ll find microsoft taking over your lives even more.

One of the cool things about living in Southampton is this Southampton Open Wireless Network or SOWN for short, basically an open/free wireless network run by University students, and perhaps even me when I get back from Norway next month.
I’m thinking of setting up a node at my new flat. Maybe it’ll draw in some nerds to the area?
I’m going to Norway at the end of the week to work on the GlacsWeb sensor network project. Very exciting, basically I’ll be helping out to recover last year’s sensors that are 70 or 80 metres under a glacier in Briksdalsbreen and then helping to put some new ones down (in a nutshell!) There’s a lot more detail to it.
If you’re in the Highfield area and bored, please come over and give me a hand painting. It’s pretty dull on your own, although I did buy some speakers so I can have my tunes on.
